Idk if any of you thought of it this way, but being a music lover, it just occured to me that how much of contribution the Coke Studio has done on the humanitarian grounds.
I know of certain parents who won’t listen to rock music and bands like Junoon, Overload, Entity Paradigm, Josh, Jal, Noori, Aunty Disco Project, Zeb and Haniya cause it’s just not their kind of genre and some kids who were not into Sufi music by Abida Parveen, Rizwan-Muazzam, Sain Zahoor Ahmed and certain other like Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi and Mehdi Hassan.
But oh boy, CS not only brought together these genres together, joined the lyrics and made such kind of music that a person of any age would love. Not only did they made music but also made an attempt to bridge the gap between the two generations. Kudos to the awesome music producer Rohail Hyatt. He did a fine job there.
Not only that but just with the motive of coming up in the similar way, CS India also tried to bring it up but they just couldn’t do it as good as Pakistan’s CS team did. But eventually, in later seasons, we say Indian and Pakistani artists performing together, singing for peace and harmony amongst the two nations.
I also can never forget that particular episode of the Dewarists where Zeb and Haniya sung ‘Kya Khayal Hai’ with the Indian artists Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire.
